German outfielder/first baseman Donald Lutz of the Cincinnati Reds was placed on the minor league disabled list with a broken finger this week. The 24-year-old, who became the first player developed in Germany to reach Major League Baseball this year and played in 34 games for the Reds in the big leagues, was hitting .240/.318/.423 with seven home runs in 59 games at Double-A Pensacola. There has been no timeframe published how long he will be sidelined with the injury.
