39-year-old Dirk van’t Klooster has ended his active career. He is retiring after playing 23 years in the Hoofdklasse, setting several all-time records. In the Hoofdklasse he played for the Amsterdam Pirates, Quick Amersfort, RCH, DOOR Neptunus, Corendon Kinheim and the Vaessen Pioniers.
Van’t Klooster is number one with 906 games played in the Hoofdklasse and number one with 1,215 hits. In both cases he broke the record previously held by Marcel Joost. He also set a single-season record with 88 hits in 1998.
Three times he was named Best Batter of the league, once Most Valuable Player. Between 1998 and 2011 he played in a total of 215 games for the Dutch National Team and participated for the Netherlands in three Olympic Games.
