When the Italian Baseball League is going to resume play next week, DE ANGELIS GODO will have a new manager. President Lino Ceccarini decided to replace Maurizio Zoli with Mario Mascitelli. He has twelve games left on the schedule in the regular season to turn the corner.
GODO lost two of three games against PALFINGER REGGIO EMILIA last weekend, is currently tied in seventh place with a 7-23 record and is danger for relegation. The team invested much during the winter, bringing in former Major Leaguer Felix Escalona alongside Lino Connell and Emmanuel Ulloa. Zoli was the manager of GODO since 2006.
Mascitelli is 41 years old and made 402 appearances in the IBL until 1998 for Milan, Parma and Modena with a life time batting average of .302. He coached Piacenza and Parma in the Serie A2 in the last couple of years and worked at the Baseball Academy in Tirrenia and is one of the coaches of the Italian Junior National Team.
