The pitching staff of the Dutch Olympic Baseball Team suffered a big loss days before the start of the tournament in Beijing. Minnesota Twins prospect Loek van Mil is going to be replaced by 34-year-old Dave Draijer of the Konica Minolta Pioniers on the Olympic roster due to an arm injury. Van Mil is already on his way back to Florida to start the rehab.
The 23-year-old Van Mil appeared in 28 games for the Beloit Snappers in the Midwest League (Single A), posting a 2-2 record with three saves and an ERA of 3.22. He struck out 42 (25 walks) in 44 2/3 innings. Draijer has an ERA of 2.04 in 15 games for the Pioniers this season. He has 17 strikeouts (5 walks) in 17.2 innings pitched.
