Dashenko Ricardo released by San Francisco Giants

Posted on February 6, 2013 by philipp

22-year-old catcher Dashenko Ricardo got released by the San Francisco Giants after six years in affiliated minor league ball according to Honkbalsite.com. In 2009 he was on the preliminary roster for the Dutch national team prior to the World Baseball Classic but didn’t make the cut to join the squad of head coach Rod Delmonico.

Born in Willemstad he eventually debuted for the Netherlands at the 2009 Baseball World Cup, appearing in five games. He began his professional baseball career with the Baltimore Orioles organization in 2007 before coming to the Giants for the 2011 season. Throughout his career he batted .229/.262/.300 with four home runs, 59 runs and 69 RBI in 214 games, which led him up to Single-A.
