The Italian vice champion DANESI NETTUNO signed another member of the Spanish national team. Starting pitcher Yoel Hernandez joins Remigio Leal (2008: FC BARCELONA) and Dewis Navarro (MARLINS PUERTO CRUZ) in Nettuno.
The 34-year-old right-hander, who was born in Cuba and began his career with INDUSTRIALES in the Cuban League, is coming from the Spanish club CB SANT BOI. In 2008 he had a 7-3 record with an ERA of 2.15 in eleven starts for the third-place finisher in the Division de Honor. He struck out 65 (33 walks) in 79 2/3 innings.
In 2007 Hernandez helped the MARLINS PUERTO CRUZ winning the championship with a perfect 8-0 record and an ERA of 0.56. That year he had 83 strikeouts in 64 2/3 innings. He also pitched for Spain in the 2007 European Championships, the 2007 Baseball World Cup (picture) and the 2008 Olympic Qualifier.
DANESI also confirmed that outfielder Juan Camilo will remain with the club for the 2009 season. He batted .306 (OBP .421/SLG .456) with three homeruns, 30 runs scored and 24 RBI last season.
