Weather permitting, the best-of-seven Croatian championship series started this afternoon between Olimpija Karlovac and Vindija Varazdin. Karlovac, which won the title in 2006 and 2007, swept last year’s winner BK Zagreb 3-0 in the semi-finals. Vindija defeated Nada SSM in four thrilling games to reach the finals. Varazdin scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth of the decisive fourth match. Both teams had met several times in the past couple of weeks, as Vindija won the Interleague finals, while Nada prevailed in the Croatian Cup.
