The Coppa Italia with DANESI NETTUNO, MONTEPASCHI GROSSETO and DE ANGELIS GODO continued last weekend with the tournament game day in Grosseto. GODO, which had lost the first two games ten days ago in Nettuno, won twice, while DANESI on the other hand lost both of their games. Now all three clubs are tied with 2-2 records going into the last weekend of the first Coppa Italia round.
De Angelis Godo – Danesi Nettuno 5-4
A solo homerun by Robert de Francheschi and RBI triple by Francesco Fuzzi (2-3, 3 RBI) in the seventh helped GODO to beat NETTUNO in game one last Saturday. Ramon Tavarez drove in two for DANESI. Remigio Leal (NET) struck out eight in six solid innings, allowing six hits, three runs and three bb. Lino Luciani (GOD) conceded five hits, three runs and six walks in five innings. Roberto Cabalisti received the win, while Carlos Pezzullo took the loss.
Montepaschi Grosseto – De Angelis Godo 3-4
In the second match of the day DE ANGELIS rallied for four runs in the top of the ninth to defeat GROSSETO 4-3. Three of the four runs came over the plate through bases-loaded walks in the ninth. The ORIOLES had taken the lead on RBI singles by Dario Piselli and Gabriele Ermini and a RBI fielder’s choice by Filippo Attriti. Junior Oberto (GRO) struck out eight in seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits. Matteo Galeotti (GOD) issued four hits, a run and a walk in seven innings too. Roberto Cabalisti picked up his second win of the day. Nicola Mega took the loss.
Montepaschi Grosseto – Danesi Nettuno 9-7
On Sunday morning GROSSETO scored nine runs total in the seventh and eighth of a 9-7 victory over NETTUNO. Gabriele Ermini and Andrea De Santis combined for five RBI for the O’s. Leonardo Mazzanti went three-for-five with three RBI for DANESI. Chris Cooper (GRO) gave up six hits and three runs (2 ER) in six innings. Massimiliano Masin (NET) surrendered seven hits, five runs (3 ER) and five walks in seven innings. Yovany D’Amico got the win, Fabio Mariani the loss.
