Coppa Italia: Danesi Nettuno takes First



DANESI NETTUNO won both games last weekend in Godo to clinch first place in the first phase of the Coppa Italia. They now will face TELEMARKET RIMINI in the next round, DE ANGELIS GODO took second and will play against CARIPARMA. RIMINI and PARMA finished in third and fourth in the semi-final round.

Danesi Nettuno – Montepaschi Grosseto 6-2

NETTUNO scored six runs in the second on a grand slam by Alessio Tartaglia and a two-run homerun by Igor Schiavetti en route to a 6-2 victory. Gabriele Ermini drove in both runs for GROSSETO. Yoel Hernandez struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings for the win, allowing four hits, a run and five bb. Remigio Leal closed it out. Chris Cooper went six innings in the loss, giving up five hits, six runs and a walk.

De Angelis Godo – Danesi Nettuno 8-13

DANESI clinched first place in the Coppa Italia standings with a 13-8 win in a slugfest over GODO. Ramon Tavarez was unstoppable, going five-for-six with a homerun, two runs scored and four RBI. Carlos Pezzullo and Renato Imperiali scored three runs apiece. Roberto De Francheschi and Stefano Naldoni combined for four RBI for DE ANGELIS. Massimiliano Masin struck out ten in a complete game victory. He conceded 14 hits, eight runs (6 ER) and three bb. Lino Luciani surrendered eleven hits, eight runs (7 ER) and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.

De Angelis Godo – Montepaschi Grosseto 3-2 (11)

Roberto De Francheschi hit a walk-off two-run single in the bottom of the eleventh to lead GODO to a 3-2 against GROSSETO. MONTEPASCHI had taken a lead in the top of the frame on a RBI single by Andrea Sgnaolin. Sgnaolin also homered earlier in the game. Junior Oberto (GRO) struck out 13 batters in eight innings, allowing four hits, one unearned run and two bb. Matteo Galeotti conceded three hits, a run and a walk in four innings. Roberto Cabalisti picked up the win, Alessandro Medaglini took the loss.
