Cincinnati Reds organization acquires another Italian prospect
On Thursday we reported about Luca PANERATI, who will turn pro next year to join the Cincinnati Reds organization. A fellow Italian will accompany him. Matteo PIZZICONI signed a minor league contract with the American team. He is expected to play for the Sarasota Reds in the Rookie league next summer. He will join the club after finishing school in May. The pitcher impressed at the European Juniors Championship last summer. He was hindered by a shoulder injury and pitched just 12 2/3 innings for Antares Anzio (Serie A2) with an ERA of 4.97. The 18-year-old threw 82/83 MPH at the Junior Championship, but raised his velocity till December to 86/87 MPH, where he convinced the people of the Reds in a mini camp.
