Chris Cooper and Yovani D’Amico newest additions for Grosseto Roster

Four weeks in front of the opening day and Montepaschi Grosseto has signed two more players. They add the former minor league pitchers Yovani D’AMICO and Christopher COOPER.

COOPER is 29 years old and was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He went to the University of New Mexico. He was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 35th round of the 2001 amateur draft. He stayed in the organization until 2006, reaching triple A in 2005. He had a combined ERA of 2.94 in 234 minor league games (no starts). He struck out 340 in 349 innings pitched, while walking 107. After his release he joined the Atlantic League club York in 2007. He appeared in 26 games (two starts) with an ERA of 5.02 with 27 strikeouts (ten walks) in 37.2 innings.

D’Amico is 23 years old and from Mariara, Venezuela. He also has an Italian passport. He signed with the Kansas City Royals as an undrafted free agent in 2002. From 2003 until 2007 he was on the roster of their Rookie and Single A teams, with a single appearance at the Double A level in 2005. He had an overall record of 14-13 and twelve saves with an ERA of 3.79 in 130 games (six starts). He struck out 238 (80 walks) in 271 innings pitched.
