Chinese Taipei kicks off 6-game warmup schedule with tie
The Chinese Taipei squad kicked off a six-game exhibition schedule on Monday with a 2-2 tie against the dmedia T-Rex of the Chinese Baseball Professional League.
Taiwan trailed by two runs in the bottom of the ninth, when Lin YEN-CHUEN’s RBI-double cut the deficit to one run. Chang TAI-SHAN followed with a RBI-single to tie the game. They had to settle for a draw despite having two men on with no outs.
Starter Yang JIEN-FU allowed two runs on four hits in five innings. The reliever Lai JUNG-NAN, Pan CHUNG-HSIAO, Chen JIEN-FU and Cheng KAI-WEN had also appearances in the game.
The sluggers Peng CHENG-MIN, Cheng CHIN-FONG and Kao GUO-CHING went 0-9 with three strikeouts.
Chinese Taipei is having home field advantage at the Olympic qualifier next week. They are facing Spain on March 7 to open the event.
