Chinese Taipei needed a lot longer to score their first run than expected but beat South Africa anyway. The 4-0-shutout was their fifth win in the sixth game of the Final Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
After four scoreless innings to open the match, Taiwan came through in the fifth. They brought a few more runs on the board afterwards and held a fighting South African squad down. Kui-Hi LO, Chih-Hsien CHANG and Sheng-Wei WANG got RBI’s.
Chieng-Ming CHANG allowed three hits and two walks in six scoreless innings. He struck out six for the win.
Barry ARMITAGE was charged with three hits, three runs and three base on balls in seven innings. Despite this solid performance he took the loss.
