CORENDON KINHEIM can defend its European Cup title next spring. The Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) took back the suspension against the Hoofdklasse vice champion, as the Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation was able to show that the participation at the Final Four in Barcelona last September wasn’t binding. However this will change for 2009. Both finalists at the European Cup tournaments have to go to the Final Four in Barcelona in June. This was ratified by the CEB board in London this past weekend.
Besides KINHEIM, the Netherlands will also send L&D AMSTERDAM to the European Cups, which take place at the beginning of the 2009 season (March 30 to April 4) due to the Baseball World Cup in Europe next September. The team from Haarlem won the European Cup the past two years. Nettuno in Italy will host one of the two tournaments. The second venue will be announced later in December.
