The European Baseball Federation (CEB) awarded Bonn (Germany) with the European Junior Championship 2009. The Baseball facilities there have already hosted European Championships in the past. The local club, Bonn Capitals, owns one of the best ballparks in Germany. They are playing in the Baseball-Bundesliga, finishing third in the northern conference in 2007. The Juniors are expected to start on August 10 and last until August 16 2009.
The last European Junior Championship took place in Rosmalen, Netherlands in 2007. The Italian team won the title defeating Russia in the finals. The Dutch team finished in third place in front of the Czech, French and German squads.
