By Collegiate Baseball League Europe
CBLE and OWB support each other’s programs because they believe it’s in the best interest of European Baseball when progressive initiatives like CBLE and OWB combine their strength and knowledge to become a positive example for other European Baseball organisations.
CBLE, initiated in 2012, provides a high level summer competitive and showcase opportunity for US players aged 18-23 and continues to expand. CBLE has a partnership agreement with the prestigious Northwoods League in the USA. The CBLE 2015 season runs from July 6 – 24.
OWB, founded in 2011, has focused on providing high level U18 team(s) to compete against the best in Europe. In 2015, in partnership with Sacred Heart University (Fairfield, CT), OWB is adding a 17 day credit-earning European tour (July 28 – August 13). This program, for college baseball players only, is the first of its kind.
About Collegiate Baseball League Europe:
CBLE is a wood bat summer league based in Oosterhout the Netherlands. The league currently consists of six teams: La Rochelle Admirals, Amsterdam Bombers, London Cavaliers and Sant Boi Falcons of Barcelona, Praha Dragons and Vienna Emperors. Like other summer collegiate baseball leagues, CBLE is dedicated and designed to provide high level competition for 18-23 year old players that wish to continue on into professional baseball. Like all other summer collegiate players, CBLE’s players are unpaid and live with host families or other accommodations in the same manner as Single A and Independent League players. While serving as a crucial player development opportunity, CBLE also provides opportunities for young players from around the world to play summer collegiate baseball in the “Old World”.

About Old World Baseball:
OWB is dedicated to providing custom-tailored, high-quality, baseball-playing/cultural opportunities in Europe for groups and individuals. Each of the founders of OWB, Tom Gillespie (Pirates international scout) and Stephan Rapaglia (a former scout, professional coach & player and Great Britain national team coach), has had tremendous coaching and playing experience in the European baseball world. Between them, Tom and Stephan have coached and/or played in the shadows of Windsor Castle and Edinburgh Castle, in Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium, and in other historic European locations such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Cologne, Stockholm, Prague, Madrid, Munich, Regensburg, Rouen and Zagreb. OWB was founded by Tom and Stephan so that adventurous and enthusiastic North American ballplayers can share these types of experiences.

OWB’s 2015 college tour will include 3 college credits, high-level games (against national and/or top-level club teams) and European club tryout opportunities. The OWB team will be coached and led by Stan Exeter (Head Coach at Ursinus College), while Tom Gillespie and Stephan Rapaglia will also each participate in part of the trip. The program will include significant time in Germany, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
