Grosseto and Bologna with victories in Coppa Italia
The second round of the Coppa Italia started on Thursday and the two losers of the semi-final round of the Italian Championship, BOLOGNA and GROSSETO took wins. Both now have 1-0 leads in the best-of-three series against RIMINI and PARMA.

FORTITUDO simply out-slugged RIMINI in the first game of the second Coppa Italia phase, winning by score of 12-6. They scored ten runs in the first three periods to decide the outcome. Juan Angrisano went four-for-six with a run scored and three RBI. Diego Bonci scored three times. Giuseppe Spinelli had two RBI for TELEMARKET.
Cody Cillo had a rough start for UNIPOL BANCA, but still managed to stay on the mound long enough to pick up the win. He allowed ten hits, six runs and a walk in six innings. Chris Di Roma was charged with eight hits, ten runs (3 ER) and a base on balls in 2 2/3 innings. The RIMINI defense made six errors over the course of the game, including three alone by shortstop Riccardo Babini.

Missing the opportunity to defend the league title, MONTEPASCHI wants at least to win the Coppa Italia. In the first match of the series against PARMA, they won 11-5. Antony Caracciolo had four hits and two RBI. Davide Dallospedale scored three times. Alessandro Galli also drove in two. Claudio Biagini doubled twice for CARIPARMA and drove in two.
Chris Cooper struck out eleven in seven innings to receive the win. He gave up just one run on five hits and two walks. Filippo Mori took the loss, after four-plus innings pitched, eight hits, six runs (4 ER) and four bb.
