Results Italian Softball League June 20&21

FIORINI FORLI won both games against former leader DES CASERTA last Saturday in the Italian Softball League. Together with the sweep by SANOTINT BOLLATE over CASSA PADANA PARMA now three clubs are tied in first place of the standings with 16-6 records after eleven of the 14 game days during the regular season.

In game one FORLI needed a run by Elisa Lolli after a throwing error by the catcher to win 3-2 in eight innings. In the second match a pair of RBI groundouts of Tyleen Tausaga and Carlotta Zauli led to the winning runs in the sixth frame of a 3-1 win by FIORINI. Leslie Malerich picked up the ‘Ws’ in both games.

The most spectacular game of the weekend was the second match between MOSCA MACERATA and MUSEO D’ARTE NUORO. The latter won 6-2 in twelve innings behind Paola Cavallo’s three RBI. Starting pitchers Courtnay Foster (12 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 6 BB, 24 SO) and Jocelin McCallum (12 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 3 ER, 6 BB, 22) combined for an unbelievable 46 strikeouts.
