Eagles Prague capture crown in Czech Softball

With the IBAF Baseball World Cup getting most of our attention, we now take a look back at the decisions in some of the European Softball Leagues.

The Eagles Prague have dethroned SK Joudrs Prague in the Czech Extraleague Softball. The Eagles won the championship series in four games to win the title. In the semi-finals they had edged out Snails Kunovice and SC Cechie Prague. The Eagles also had to win a best-of-three quarterfinals to stay alive.

Czech Republic, Great Britain started into World Cup of Softball VI

Two European teams take part in the 6th edition of the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City, USA. The five-day invitational tournament began on Thursday with the Czech Republic and Great Britain playing alongside of Team USA, Japan, Canada and Australia. The Czech team lost its first two games to Australia and Team USA. Australia also beat Great Britain on day one. ESPN is broadcasting some of the games; the rest is available as live stream. Results Czech Extraleague Softball June 18 to 22

In the Czech Extraleague Softball SK Joudrs Prague and SC Cechie Prague continued to dominate the standings, being tied for first place with 11-1 records. Cechie defeated Kunovice and SaBaT Prague in four games last weekend, while SK Joudrs downed Kunovice and Storms Repy. The Eagles Prague follow in third place, taking advantage of the four Kunovice losses.

The Czech Extraleague Softball opened the 2011 season on Easter weekend with a pair of game days. While the Snails Kunovice and Eagles Prague won all of their four games, defending champion SK Joudrs Prague suffered a surprise loss in their season debut to SC Cechie Prague, before winning the remaining three games on Saturday and Sunday.

Czech Softball Finals: SK Joudrs completes Sweep to defend Title

SK Joudrs Prague has defended its title in the Czech Extraleague Softball, sweeping the Eagles Prague 3-0 in the championship series. After winning the opener at the end of September 10-3, they celebrated 5-1 and 9-0 victories in games two and three last weekend. It is their fourth championship in the past five years (2010, 2009, 2007, 2006).

Czech Softball Finals: SK Joudrs Prague wins Game 1

Last weekend the best-of-five final series in the Czech Extraleague Softball started. In game one on Saturday defending champion SK Joudrs Prague took a fast 10-2 lead through four innings en route to a 10-3 win over the Eagles Prague. Game two on Sunday had to be canceled due to rain. The next two matches will be played this upcoming weekend.

Defending champion SK Joudrs Prague and the Eagles Prague have reached the final series in the Czech Extraleague Softball. Joudrs swept their semi-final in three games against Chemie/Kotlarka Prague. The Eagles needed a 7-5 in a decisive game five to beat SaBaT Prague. The championship series starts on Saturday, September 25th at the Eagles ballpark in Prague Krc.

Czech Roster for 2010 Softball World Championship in Caracas

The Czech Softball Association released its 17-woman roster for the 2010 Softball World Championship in Caracas, Venezuela (June 23-July 2). The squad consists of four pitchers, two catchers, eight infielders and four outfielders, mostly from the Czech Extraleague. The team of head coach Tomas Kusy will travel to Venezuela on Saturday, June 19 and will take part in the warm-up event prior the tournament against the Netherlands, Venezuela, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

The Czech Extraleague Softball has kicked off its 2010 season last weekend with 16 games on two days. Defending champion SK Joudrs Prague already got off to a good start, winning all four games by out-scoring their opponents 51-2. SaBaT Prague is tied for first place with a 4-0 record as well. Chemie/Kotlarka Prague follow in third.

Czech T-Ball Supercup starts in April

In April the T-ball SUPERCUP will start. The project is organized by the Czech Baseball Association with the main goal, to increase the awareness of T-ball in the Czech Republic. The scope is for baseball or softball or school teams under 10 years. Already more than 50 teams are registered into the SUPERCUP which is divided into three levels.

The BRONZE SUPERCUP as basic level, starting in Czech baseball regions. It’s up to regional development manager to decide if BRONZE SUPERCUP will be a part of regular T-ball regional competition or if tournaments will be organized. BRONZE SUPERCUP is not promotional to higher level but the aim is to get a chance for school teams to play games against baseball or softball T-ball teams. Below you can find table with number of registered teams per region.

Each “Little League” Region is organizing one tournament and teams are registering to the tournament based on their geographical location. SILVER SUPERCUP tournaments are open only for teams which participated in BRONZE SUPERCUP. The best four teams from each tournament, see below, will move up to the GOLDEN SUPERCUP.

The GOLDEN SUPERCUP is the final tournament for the best sixteen teams which were promoted from the SILVER SUPERCUP tournaments. Saturday will be dedicated not only for T-ball games, but also Road Show, VIP slow pitch, Pitch, Hit & Run competitions will be organized. The main goal is to increase awareness among people and bring new talents to Czech Baseball.

Invitations to 2010 Tournaments in Hluboka, Czech Republic

The Baseball & Softball club Hluboka has a full calendar of events prepared for the 2010 season. Among the events are also five tournaments.

The tournaments in Hluboka start with the Spring Training Cup, which is prepared for 4 to 5 teams during the weekend April 10th to 11th. This tournament is the latest preparation of teams before starting into the new season in the Ceskomoravska Baseballova League (2nd division). Already three teams confirmed its participation. Beside home team Sokol Hluboka, the Trebic Nuclears and the Tempo Titans Praha will arrive at the beautiful facility in Southern Bohemia. Also the National Team of Hungary is considering their participation. More information is in attached flyer.

The hot summer in Hluboka starts with the International Juveniles Tournament “Games of Friendship”, which is organized during the first July weekend. The organizers are working to get foreign juveniles teams into Hluboka. We can also expect the participation of the top Czech juvenile teams. How will the duel between the top Czech and foreign teams end up in the end? See attached flyer for more information.

One weekend afterward women will replace the juveniles on the field for the International Games of Friendship of Women. After last year’s premier edition the organizers also expect foreign teams in Hluboka. For more information see attached flyer.

Immediately after finishing the women tournament the Juveniles European Championship will be played in Hluboka. The Czech National Team has three consecutive wins, so will be the Czechs also successful at home? As of now the organizers have received the registration of the following teams: Czech Republic, Belarus, Russia, Austria, Ukraine, Lithuania and Romania.

The Men’s Games of Friendship will close July in Hluboka. The Cardinals would like to highlight their season with some games against teams which they didn’t meet every year. Hluboka is negotiating with a Croatian team and also the Hungarian National Team is thinking about their participation in Hluboka. Catching Up: SK Joudrs Prague prevail in Czech Extraleague Softball

During the next two weeks we are going to look at a few Baseball and Softball Leagues in Europe, we were not covering during the 2009 season.

SK Joudrs Prague won all three games during the championship series against Eagles Prague to win the 2009 season in the Czech Extraleague Softball. Both teams had finished the regular season with identical 13-1 records. In the semi-finals Joudrs moved past Chemie Prague in three games, while the Eagles needed four against SaBaT Prague.

Catching Up: Czech Softball

In the upcoming days we are trying to catch up with the leagues in European Baseball and Softball, we were not covering during the summer. We are going to give you an overview about the championship, hopefully from every country in Europe. You can also send us (news@mister-baseball.com) a report about your league and we’ll try to publish it.

KRC ALTRON missed the playoffs in the Czech Baseball Extraleague. However in the Czech Women Softball League they won the championship. They defeated JOUDRS PRAGUE in five games in the finals. JOUDRS had celebrated shutouts in games one and three, but KRC ALTRON came back every time and tied the series, before winning the decisive match 4-2. Two more teams from the Czech capital reached the playoffs, as SABAT PRAGUE and the TEMPO TITANS were ranked third and fourth.

New baseball fields in Prague

Although the season in the Czech Republic is over and winter slowly is coming. Baseball is not sleeping in Prague, because three of the four Prague baseball clubs are building new baseball fields!

Let’s start with SaBaT Prague. They had a nice, small baseball and softball facility near the Vltava River. But this facility was damaged during floods in 2002, so the club decided to create a new one. The first phase is in progress this year, so SaBaT played their home games at the Krc Altron and Titans Prague baseball ballpark. From 2008 they are returning home to a new baseball field. The softball field will be prepared too for juveniles and t-ball competitions. The next phases will contain building a new clubhouse with locker rooms and a restaurant in addition to other softball fields.

The next project is run under the leadership of one of the most successful youth baseball club. SK Kotlarka started this year with a junior team and they will start with a senior team next season. For this reason they decided to developed a senior baseball field in the Prague district “Praha 6-Marketa”. A nice project will be completed for the spring 2008 and we can expect the first games next April.

The last project was started by the Tempo Titans baseball club where they are building a new juveniles and softball field. The plan is that the first t-ball and juveniles games will be ready in April. From this perspective Prague will have no more troubles with baseball fields for cadets, juniors and seniors in the future. Since this year there were only three regular fields for these categories.

Joudrs Praha are Czech Softball Champions 2007

Joudrs Praha have won their second consecutive Czech Softball titel. In the final best of five series they swept SaBaT Praha 3-0 (9-6, 9-1, 2-0).
Krc Altron took 3rd place by winning the best of three series with 2-0 (7-0, 1-0) against Cechie Praha.
The Czech Extralegue will also feature two new teams in 2008. The last place team Podoli Praha will leave the league and in exchange the winner of the 2nd league Radotin SK will be promoted to the Extraleague in 2008. Czech Softball Finals start on September 28th

The finalist of the Czech Softball league are 2 teams from Prague. The games start on September 28th and the title will be decided in a best of five series between Joudrs and SaBaT. The first game takes place in Joudrs Park on Friday at 11am and then heads for 2 games on Saturday and Sunday to the Tempo facility which is the temporarly homefield of the SaBaT team. If necessary the series will continue on October 6th & 7th.

The series for 3rd place will be played from September 28th to 30th. The Krc Altron will face the Cechie Prague team in a best of three matchup.

In other games Tempo Prague ended up in 5th place in this years play by beating Kotlarka Prague in a best of three series with 2 to 1 games. The Kotlarka Prague team now has to play Technika Brno for relegation series to stay in the Czech Softball Extraleague in 2008. The team that looses this series will have to play another matchup with the 2nd place team from the 2nd Czech Softball League.
