Cariparma Parma has found a replacement for the injured Marco Grifantini (inflamed elbow). Adam Clerici, an American with Italian passport, is coming on a loan contract from Unipol Bologna. The 26-year-old will be used out of the bullpen in game one and two each week. The tall right-hander from California attended Newman University and was signed by the Los Angeles Angels as an undrafted amateur free agent in 2009. He spent two seasons with the Angels organization, going 2-1 with an ERA of 4.88 in 20 games at the Rookie Level. He showed good command, striking out 27 batters in 27 2/3 innings, walking just seven. He played in an independent league last year. Grifantini is expected to miss the first part of the season due to his injury. There is no timetable known for his return.
