Cardinals and Metrostars still undefeated at Qualifiers
The CARDINALS and the METROSTARS continue to thrive in the European Cup Qualifiers. Let’s take a look at all four groups.
Brno, Czech Republic:
Two teams are still undefeated after two days in Brno. KRANJSKI LISJAKI from Slovenia had another 13-run game and crushed the ANGELS TRNAVA (SVK) 13-3. Next up ZAGREB BC (CRO), which lost to the UNION KUFSTEIN VIKINGS (AUT) on Tuesday. Check out this blog for photos from the VIKINGS trip to the Qualifier. The other 2-0 club is the BERN CARDINALS. They defeated MZLU EXPRESS 3-2 in the nightcap and will face the Austrian participant today. You can follow the action in Brno via a webcam at the ballpark.
Kutno, Poland:
The AVEIRO UNIVERSITY (POR) regrouped after their 3-19 loss from Monday and defeated SUNDBYBERG HEAT (SWE) 10-8 on Tuesday. The only undefeated team is KAUNAS LITUANICA (LTU) after beating the OSLO PRETENDERS (NOR) 11-1. They now have scored 24 runs in the event. They now have to face the Swedish vice champion from last year. In late afternoon MKS AMZ KUTNO (POL) shut out ESPOO EXPOOS (FIN) 9-0.
Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria:
After struggling in the national championship, the VIENNA METROSTARS (AUT) are thriving in the Qualifier. After beating BK APOLLO (SVK) in the opener, they crushed SPARTAKOS 11-0 on Tuesday. Besides the HOMERUNNERS, the other team with two victories is DINAMO (ROM). They celebrated a 2-0 shutout in a ten-inning thriller against host BLAGOEVGRAD. The METS face BEOGRAD 96 (SRB) on Wednesday. They are coming of an 8-2 win against APOLLO.
Brest, Zubrus:
The ZURICH CHALLENGERS (CH) lost their second game. They were crushed by BREST ZUBRS (BLR) with a score of 10-1. Andy Fleischacker (4.1 IP) and James Sanders (3.2 IP) were on the mound for ZURICH. The host is now 2-0. All other clubs besides UKS DEBY OSIELSKO (POL) now have at least one victory. STOCKHOLM (SWE) beat KNTU (UKR) 5-2 and BK VILNIUS (LTU) dismantled UKS DEBY 19-3.
