Cardinals Home Opener vs. Barracudas highlights Game Day in Switzerland

by John Baum

Cardinals home opener vs. Barracudas highlights full slate of action in Switzerland

Bern will look to find a way to wiggle back into a heated playoff race as the (7-3) Zurich Barracudas come to town. The Cardinals, (3-7), can’t wait too much longer to find their groove, and solid pitching this weekend could derail those plans. Derek Bondo, the ‘Cudas import arm threw a no-hitter last time out, and also beat the Cards 4-3 as the two teams split when they met in Zurich.

Challengers look to poke head above .500 as Frogs come to town

The split against the second place Mustangs last week, surprisingly winning game two after the loss of James Sanders. Up and coming young star Yannick Probst took over for the retired Ueli von Burg, and is gaining much needed experience at the highest level. The Frogs, (2-6), will have a hard time containing the potent C’s offense, as the (4-4) Challengers will test the shallow Frog staff.

Flyers face Indians, likely moving to 12-0

The Flyers are on a collision course with destiny, and a 28-0 finish…the Indians, well not the same team from last season. Having lost the majority of their starting lineup, the Lausanne Indians, (2-8) have little to no chance to take down the mighty Flyers. Jon Marc Walls, the American pitcher for Lausanne, will do all he can to give them a chance.

Eagles hope to take down Mustangs, again

The Luzern Eagles are sitting in the cellar at 2-8, but one of those wins counted for one of the Mustangs three losses. The Mustangs (7-3) still have much to prove, although their record is justified, they haven’t face the upper echelon, and were beaten last weekend in game two by a recently called up NLB pitcher for the Challengers. Time will tell for the ‘Stangs, but for now, they have a good chance of remaining close behind the front running Flyers.
