Canada wins slugfest against Mexico

All nine batters Canada had at least one hit, six got two or more. Matt ROGELSTAD was 3-4 with three runs scored and three RBI. Jimmy VAN OSTRAND (3-5) drove in four.
Mexico didn’t disappoint offensive wise either. Carlos VALENCIA hit a two-run-homerun during the eighth-run outburst in the third. Geronimo GIL had three hits and two RBI.
As good as the offense of both squads was, their defense and pitching was on the other side of the scale. They committed a combined six errors and used eleven pitchers in the first match of the tournament.
Jamie RICHMOND received the win. Victor ALVAREZ took the loss.
