Team Canada used an overall dominant effort to cruise easily to an 11-0 shutout against Spain. They are now 4-1 and in pole position to take second place in the standings behind South Korea.

The favorites didn’t mess around and scored four runs in the first to take a commanding lead fast. They added a bunch of insurance runs until the sixth and the game was called due to the ten-run rule midway through the seventh.

Nick WEGLARZ (two runs, two RBI) hit his second homerun of the tournament. Emerson FROSTAD, Jimmy VAN OSTREND and Jeremy WARE each had two RBI. Stubby CLAPP scored twice.

Starter Aaron WIDEMAN allowed three hits in four innings. Alexandre PERIARD completed the shutout with three one-hit innings of relief.

Remigio LEAL allowed five runs on eight hits in three innings, taking the loss. Ivan GRANADOS, Rhiner CRUZ and Fernando GUTIERREZ also appeared in the game.
