Canada crushes Australia in second game
CAN 412 000 12X 10 15 2
Canada wasted no time to score seven runs in the first three frames on route to an easy 10-1 victory against Australia in the second of the four-game exhibition series between the two contestants of the Olympic Qualifier next week.
Adam STERN, Matt ROGELSTAD, Mike SAUNDERS and Nick WEGLARZ hit homeruns. ROGELSTAD drove in four. STERN and WEGLARZ each two.
But not only the Canadian offense was great on Friday. The pitching staff around starter Jamie RICHMOND allowed just one run on two hits. Jonathan LOCKWOOD, Alexandre PERIARD (W 1-0), Tim BURTON and Steve GREENE also appeared in the game.
In difference the Aussies struggled all around. Brett RONEBERG and Daniel BERG managed the only hits in the match against LOCKWOOD. Starter Phil BRASSINGTON (L 0-1)was hit hard. He gave up seven hits, seven runs and four base on balls in three innings. He threw 84 pitches, just 38 for strikes. Liam HENDRIKS and Gavin DLOUHY relieved him.
Both squads travel to Palm Meadows on the Gold Coast to conclude the series this weekend.
