Canada completes sweep in Perth



The Canadian team finished their preparation for the upcoming World Cup of Baseball in Taipei. They defeated Perth Heat on Saturday 10-6 and swept the four-game-series in Australia.

Canada overcame a 0-4 deficit to beat the Heat. They scored three runs in the fourth to cut the disadvantage and added six in the sixth period to complete the comeback.

Emerson FROSTAD hit a solo-homerun and scored two runs. Matt ROGELSTAD had a bases clearing triple in the sixth. Jamie ROMAK was two for four with two RBI.

Brooks MC NIVEN started and was hit hard. He allowed six hits, four runs and one walk in three innings. Chris LEROUX received the win, pitching two one-hit-innings, striking out three. Jonathan LOCKWOOD, Mike JOHNSON and Tim BURTON also appeared in the game.

Canada concluded the series with a team batting average of .244 (OBP .372, SLG .393). Their team ERA was 3.00.

ROGELSTAD hit .398 in the series, followed by ROMAK (7 RBI) with an average of .375. FROSTAD hit two homeruns. Mike SAUNDERS scored five runs.

James AVERY was their best starter with five one-hit-innings. Scott RICHMOND (ERA 0.00) pitched 5 2/3 innings. Mike JOHNSON allowed just one base runner in three games (4 IP).
