Two days after beating Australia in the tenth, Taiwan again prevailed in extra innings. Hung-Yu Lin drove in two runs in the top of the first additional frame to put them 3-1 in front. Japan advanced the runners in the bottom of the inning with a sac bunt, but Hisayoshi Chono’s line drive was caught in right field and Shoh Aranami doubled up at second for the final out. Chih-Lung Huang went the distance and gave up four hits, one unearned run and two bb. He threw 74 of his 125 pitches for strikes. Hirotoshi Masui took the loss in relief.
