For the fourth straight game in the tournament, Team USA received a strong performance by their starting pitcher. Cory Luebke (W 1-0) held a no-hitter until the second out in the eighth and led his squad to an 8-0 shutout. He only gave up one single to Chris Robinson and a walk to Adam Stern in 7 2/3 innings. He struck out ten, missing the team record by one punch-out.
The offense had no problems to wake up early after a stressful travel day, scoring six runs in the first three innings. Terry Tiffee and Jon Weber combined for six RBI. Josh Kroeger scored three times. Pedro Alvarez finalized the score with his first tournament-homerun in the seventh.
Canada’s Chris Begg (L 0-1) surrendered six hits, six runs and two bb in three innings.
