BWCF Haarlem: Cuba holds Great Britain to two hits

Baseball World Cup Pool F, Haarlem:

Cuba – Great Britain 6-0

GRB 000 000 000  0 2 0
CUB 030 000 30X  6 9 3

Box score

Cuba beat the fourth-ranked third seed from round one Great Britain 6-0. The score isn’t that lopsided, as some might have expected. Freddy Alvarez (W 1-0) dominated with a complete game two-hit shutout. Besides two singles, he also conceded three walks, while striking out nine.

Homeruns by Frederich Cespedes and Ariel Pestano put Cuba up in front 3-0 in the bottom of the second. Three more runs in the seventh sealed the win. Stephen Spragg (L 0-1) took the loss, allowing five hits, three runs and a walk.
