Italy scored five runs in the first three innings en route to a 6-3 win over Nicaragua, their second “W” at the 2011 IBAF Baseball World Cup. Tony Granato led the way with a homerun, two runs scored and two RBI. Giuseppe Mazzanti added three RBI. On mound and defense, the Squadra Azzurri only faltered in the fourth inning, when Nicaragua came through with a three-run rally. Alessandro Maestri (W, 1-0) pitched 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win.

South Korea hammered Australia which makes Germany’s result against S.Korea all the more impressive. Baseball in Europe is on the way up.
