After the first of four game days in the third round at the 2009 Baseball World Cup, three teams no longer have a shot at the championship game on Sunday in Nettuno. Venezuela, Australia and Taiwan all lost today and trail the leaders by three games. Team USA improved to 4-0 in Pool G and possible could clinch the finals already on Wednesday with a win against Puerto Rico. In Pool F the Netherlands and Cuba both won their matches, but switched positions in the standings, as there is no longer a three-way tie with Puerto Rico, which lost.
