The RICHMOND FLAMES had a successful first trip to Grovehill Park in week 4, gaining two comfortable victories over the HERTS FALCONS. Veteran hurler Cody Cain (pictured below pitching to John Oliver) threw a two-hitter with 10 strike-outs in a 7-2 victory for RICHMOND in game 1. Guy Lidbetter went 3-for-4 to lead the FLAMES’ offence. In game 2, Michael Osborn took the mound and yielded just 2 earned runs in 6.0 innings while striking out 11. Osborn had success with the bat too, going 3-for-3 with a home run, while Lidbetter also contributed a round-tripper, a 3-run shot in a 6-run fifth for the FLAMES. Lin Yuchih was the pick of the FALCONS with the bat, collecting three hits in three at-bats to add to a 1-for-3 showing in game 1.

The LONDON METS and BRACKNELL BLAZERS gained a win apiece in their double-header at Finsbury Park. Jason Roberts pitched a complete game in the METS’ 4-1 victory in game 1. The BLAZERS managed to get the tying run to the plate in the last inning, but Matt Bray grounded out to shortstop Rob Anthony to end the game. LONDON’s Carlos Dias was the only player with a multi-hit game; he went 3-for-3 with a double. In game 2, Henry Collins picked up the win, yielding 3 earned runs in 6.0 innings. The game ended 13-4 in BRACKNELL’s favour, with the visiting team’s offence aided by a 3-for-5 performance from Matt Maitland.
The latest results leave BRACKNELL (3-1) and RICHMOND (4-2) tied at the top, with HERTS (3-3) and LONDON (4-4) both just one game back. CROYDON (0-4) remain rooted at the bottom.
