British Briefing: Grovehill Park welcomes the NBL on SundayThe programme for week 3 of the 2009 National Baseball League (NBL) season includes the HERTS FALCONS’ home opener, with the LONDON METS being the first visitors to Grovehill Park, Hemel Hempstead. The double-header has an earlier-than-normal scheduled start time of 11 am. The METS will be eyeing a sweep to re-assert themselves as one of the stronger teams in the NBL, following their opening-weekend defeats to the RICHMOND FLAMES. The FALCONS, who started their campaign with two easy victories against a weakened CROYDON squad, will get their first chance to make a real mark on the division.

The other scheduled double-header was a visit by the CROYDON PIRATES to Westmorland Park, home of the BRACKNELL BLAZERS. However, the games have been postponed until 16 August, in order to give CROYDON time to ressamble an NBL-calibre roster. CROYDON forfeited their games last Sunday owing to a shortage of players, but are not now in action until 17 May.

The RICHMOND FLAMES also have a week off, before a string of away games while their diamond is being relaid (they are not scheduled to play at home again until 28 June).
