The Brisbane Bandits have won the Australian Baseball League for a third year in a row. Former Major Leaguer Travis Blackley pitched six scoreless innings in a decisive 4-2 win over the Canberra Cavalry on Sunday. The game featured some drama, as tempers flared twice to clear the benches a couple of times during the game.
Brisbane was lead this season by sluggers TJ Bennett and Donald Lutz, who led the league with 16 home runs each. The German outfielder batted .281/.387/.736 with 16 home runs, 34 runs scored and 39 RBI for the Bandits. The roster also featured Mitch Nilsson, Ryan Bollinger, Justin Erasmus, Ryan Battaglia and Wade Dutton with connections to European Baseball in past years.
