Bologna extends streak, Ramos delivers Grosseto win with Grand Slam

BOLOGNA continued their winning streak and crushed NETTUNO 8-1. DANESI took a fast lead in the first frame on Juan Camilo’s RBI single. FORTITUDO needed some innings to get the offense going, tied the game in the fifth on a wild pitch and scored seven runs in the seventh and eighth to decide the outcome. Ryner Bautista drove in three. Daniele Frignani scored three times.

Jesus Matos started for BOLOGNA and allowed six hits, a run and two walks in six innings. Martin Vargas replaced him in the top of the seventh and received the win after three no-hit innings of relief. Nelson Cruz matched Matos pitch by pitch. He gave up five hits, one run and a base on balls in six innings. Frailyn Florian took the loss.

A grand slam by first baseman Jairo Ramos in the bottom of the 13th period led to the 8-4 win by GROSSETO against RIMINI. MONTEPASCHI had taken a 4-0 advantage after four innings, but TELEMARKET scored the next four runs and tied the game in the sixth. Afterwards the 2007 champion won the duel between bullpens.

Lorenzo Avagnina scored three times for GROSSETO. Jorge Nunez got two RBI. Amaury Garcia and Juan Melo each had three hits for RIMINI.

Lincoln Mikkelsen (GRO) was charged with eleven hits, four runs and a walk in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out eight. Chris Cooper relieved him and closed out the match for the win. Matt Beech allowed eight hits and four runs (3 ER) in five innings. Chris Di Roma took the loss.

The first match of the GODO CARIPARMA series on Thursday was rained out (will be make up on Saturday) and the clubs opened their set on Friday. The pitchers Mercado and Josmir Romero combined for a two-hitter, while striking out 13 and walking one. Luca Scalera, who scored on an error, and Pascual Matos with a solo homerun provided the necessary run support.

Ryan Baerlocher got the start for DE ANGELIS and struck out seven in six innings. He gave up five hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk. Kyle Collina impressed with three strikeouts in three one-hit innings of relief.

The RANGERS still wait for their first victory of the season. They even took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth after a two-run double by Francesco Mania’. However SAN MARINO answered right away, scoring five runs in the bottom of the same frame. Max Di Biase and Dean Rovinelli each drove in two runs. Martin Vazquez scored twice.

Horacio Estrada went eight innings for the win. He allowed seven hits, two runs and a walk. Federico Olmos gave up two hits, three runs and six bb in 4 1/3 innings for the loss.
