Roger Bernadina: Outfielder Roger Bernadina has established himself as the starting right fielder for the Washington Nationals. The 26-year-old from Willemstad, Curacao hits his fourth homerun of the year on Wednesday in a loss against the Detroit Tigers. He is now batting .282 (OBP .353/SLG .460) with 14 runs and 19 RBI in 42 games this season. In June he is batting .366 in 13 games (twelve starts).
Alex Liddi/Alex Maestri: The two Double-A teams of Alex Liddi (West Tenn Diamond Jaxx) and Alex Maestri (Tennessee Smokies) faced each other in five-game series last weekend. Unfortunately Maestri didn’t pitch to Liddi. Liddi went 6-for-16 with two homeruns, three runs and seven RBI in the series. Maestri pitched a scoreless frame on Monday, inducing two groundouts.
Thomas de Wolf/Bjoern Hato: Recently the Dominican Summer League opened its gates for the 2010 season. Belgian outfielder Thomas de Wolf and Dutch infielder Bjoern Hato are playing there for the New York Mets affiliate. De Wolf is in his second season, batting .196 (OBP .388/SLG .333) with eleven runs and ten RBI in 17 games. Hato is 3-for-10 with six runs and three RBI in seven games. He also walked nine times and struck out just once so far.
Gregory Halman: Outfielder Gregory Halman returned to the lineup of the Tacoma Rainiers after an injury on Monday with a bang, going 3-for-5 with two homeruns and four RBI. He is now batting .234 (OBP .319/SLG .539) with eleven homeruns, 28 runs and 25 RBI in 34 games.
