Belgium wins Juniors Qualifier in Eskilstuna

Belgium took the title in the first of two European Championship Juniors  Qualifier in Eskilstuna, Sweden. They defeated Great Britain 2-0 in the best-of-three series, after winning the decisive game on Saturday 6-5. They already had won the preliminary round match on Wednesday 14-2 to take a 1-0 lead into the final day of the tournament.

Belgium is going to play in the European Championship Juniors next year in Bonn, Germany. The second qualifier starts on Monday, August 4 in Miejska Gorka, Poland. The Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria and Croatia are the participating teams.

Great Britain – Switzerland 16-1
Sweden – Austria 0-12

Tuesday July 29:
Belgium – Austria 15-8
Switzerland – Sweden 7-6

Wednesday July 30:
Great Britain – Belgium 2-14
Austria – Switzerland 13-3

Thursday July 31:
Austria – Great Britain 13-14
Belgium – Sweden 17-3

Friday August 1:
Switzerland – Belgium 0-23
Sweden – Great Britain 10-2

Saturday August 2:
Belgium – Great Britain 6-5
Belgium wins best-of-three series 2-0.
