Baseball at the 2012 Olympics?
Thanks to BaseballGB we recognized an article on Inside the Games. They report that the IBAF is working on a plan to bring Baseball to the 2012 Olympics. If not as a medal sport than at least as parallel tournament staged at the Hyde Park, London. President Dr. Harvey Schiller said, “We are working hard to get baseball back in the Olympics and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will consider this in Copenhagen next August. We are working hard to get back for 2016 and we are talking to London about 2012.”
Baseball and Softball was cut from the Olympic program in 2005. However they didn’t replace them with other sports. Schiller also said that they would contribute money to help organizers founding the event. However a decision will not be made in front of the IOC congress 2009 in Copenhagen.
