Baseball Playoffs Switzerland - Preview

The Swiss Baseball League has no games scheduled this weekend so that the Swiss Baseball Cup finals can be disputed by the Bern Cardinals, Lausanne Indians, Therwil Flyers, and Zurich Challengers. The tournament finals will be held August 18-19 in Therwil.

The Bern Cardinals will face the Therwil Flyers at 10 AM on Saturday in what promises to be another interesting game. The short-handed Flyers, including former ace pitcher Roy Allenspach, gave the two-time defending champs a scare in two narrow losses two weeks ago.

Seppi ZWYER has put together a solid season for the Flyers along with teammates Nelson VILOMAR and Stefan KOLLER, The Cardinals are led by player/coach John BAUM, MVP candidate Jhonny PERIGO, and pitchers Christoph BEYELER and Severin FRIES.

The Zurich Challengers will battle the Lausanne Indians at 1 PM on Saturday and will be looking for redemption and being swept by the Indians a few weeks ago. Talented shortstop Saentis ZELLER is heating up with five doubles in one game recently. Veteran slugger Thomas LANDIS is also swinging a hot bat for the Challengers.

The winners of the two games will meet for the Swiss Cup Championship at 2:15 PM on Sunday.
