Posted on February 12, 2013February 12, 2013 by philipp

The Netherlands announced another change to their roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Catcher Bas Nooij of the L&D Amsterdam Pirates will replace Spencer Kieboom who underwent Tommy John elbow surgery. Nooij batted .296/.450/.429 with two home runs, 25 runs scored and 25 RBI in 31 starts for the Pirates last year in the Dutch Hoofdklasse.

The Dutch team has to submit a final roster to Major League Baseball by February 20. In the first round at the WBC the team of manager Hensley Meulens will face Korea, Australia and Chinese Taipei in Taichung, Taiwan. The team is currently in Scottsdale, Arizona for a training camp. Later today they will face a team of GateWay Junior College in their first exhibition game.
