The opener of the 2011/2012 season in the Australian Baseball League had to be postponed due to inclement weather. The first game between Perth Heat and the Adelaide Bite now is scheduled to be played on Saturday.
European Baseball will be well represented in Down Under. After Donald Lutz and Mariekseon Gregorius took the field for the Canberra Cavalry last year, pitchers Alex Maestri (Brisbane Bandits) and Markus Solbach (Melbourne Aces, reassigned at start of season) are on rosters in the ABL.
Also plenty of Australian and American players, which spent the summer in Europe will take the fields in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide. Former and current Major and Minor Leaguers round up an impressive lineup for the second-year league.
Follow the action via the official website. Mister-Baseball also will report on a regular basis from the Australian Baseball League.
