Australia with tie against New South Wales Patriots
Ties are not common in Baseball usually, except in exhibition games. After losing the first of two games against the New South Wales Patriots on Friday, Australia also could not win on Saturday. They had some opportunities, but failed to capitalize. They had to settle for a 3-3.
Both squads exchanged runs in the first two frames with the Patriots taking a 3-2 lead. Australia finally tied the contest in the eighth through a RB-single by Paul RUTGERS. Matt KENT was two for two with two RBI.
The National Team had three pitchers on the mound for each three innings. Starter Phil BRASSINGTON struggled with his control as he gave up two hits, three runs and four walks. Liam HENDRICKS and Scott MITCHENSON combined for six two-hit relief innings.
Australia will face Canada in a four-game-series next week to prepare for the Olympic qualifier in Taiwan, which starts on March 7.
