With new pitcher Carter Clements aboard the MOSQUITO ATHLETICS hope to defeat the surprisingly strong SCHAWZ TIGERS in a doubleheader on Saturday in the Austrian Baseball League. Clements is 22 years old and pitched for the Saint Leo University in Florida. He was their number one starter and finished the college season recently with a 6-4 record and an ERA of 4.18. He struck out 65 strikeouts in 84 innings. ATTNANG-PUCHHEIM is currently in fourth place with an 8-6 record. The TIGERS are two games in front of them in second.
On Sunday the LINZ BANDITS host the STOCK CITY CUBS in a matchup between the two bottom-ranked clubs in the ABL. Both have won just three games this season. However the BANDITS are getting better, as they upset the 2007 champion METROSTARS on June 7, by winning both games. The CUBS have lost three of the last four games, including a 4-25 pounding against the WANDERERS last weekend.

Who writes this stuff? While y'all are hating on the Cubs, we're focused on building a stronger program. The Bandits are getting better? Have you seen them play?
We have significant injuries here in Stockerau. That is not an excuse--it is a reality. Maybe instead of the snarky comments, the author of this could note that even with injuries to our starting second baseman (most likely out for the season--shoulder), our starting shortstop (unable to throw a baseball--cuff), and our starting first baseman (out indefinitely--back spasms), we're on pace to significantly top last season's win total.
We beat the the Tigers once, and we lead them 7-0 going into the eighth inning on a postponed game. I have full confidence that our team is going to close that game out with a victory.
There is a very strong possibility that we're going to double our win total from last season. We are within one game of that pace right now. Have we had our share of struggles? Of course. Our recent series against the Wanderers was an embarrassment to the organization.
I take full responsibility for not having my team ready to play in that series. But that does not change the fact that as a whole, we're playing better baseball than we've played in a very long time. We're competing for nine innings every game. And that, if you ask me, deserves a little more respect than we're getting from the "reporters" on this site.
So if you want to know what's going on in Stockerau--if you want to be responsible with the way you report on the ABL--you should make a call and talk to someone, as opposed to just spouting off comments (in this article and in others) about us being the lowly bottom dwellers.
We're looking forward to the second half of the season. We still have our best baseball ahead of us.
