German first baseman Max Kepler seems to find his groove in the Arizona Fall League. On Wednesday he went 2-for-4 with a two-run double and two runs scored in an 8-6 win of his Glendale Desert Dogs over the Salt River Rafters. One day later he walked twice in a 6-0 shutout against the same team. He is now hitting .300 (OBP .348) in five games, playing solely at first base.
Dutch infielder Jonathan Schoop connected for his first home run of the AFL season – a two-run shot in the sixth – in a 10-5 victory of his Surprise Saguaros against the Surprise Scorpions. It was his second hit this fall.
Aaron Altherr went 1-for-4 with a double in a 1-3 loss of his Peoria Javelinas against the Mesa Solar Sox on Thursday. He again played center field for Peoria.
