Outfielder Anthony Cros of the Montpellier Barracudas was named to the 2009 all-Canadian college team by the Canadian Baseball Network at the end of December. The attendee of Northwestern Oklahoma State also won the MVP award of the Western Major Baseball League last summer, playing for Okotoks Dawgs. He also was voted on the all-conference second team and received a gold glove for his defense.
Cros led the NOSU Rangers with a .441 batting average (OBP .572/SLG .847). He hit 15 homeruns, one triple, a school-record tying 22 doubles, 71 runs scored and 63 RBI in 53 games. He also set a new school record with 42 walks. In an interview, which was published on the website of the French Baseball and Softball Federation, he says that he hopes to sign with an independent league team.
