The Swiss Baseball and Softball Federation (SBSF) announced on Monday that the 39-year-old Andy Fleischacker will take over as head coach of the Swiss Senior National Team. The position was not filled recently. His first steps will be to complete the coaching staff, create a practice plan and select a first roster. It is planned that the national team will meet for monthly practices. The big goal is obviously the European Championship Qualifier at the end of July.
Fleischacker managed the German Baseball-Bundesliga club Solingen Alligators in the past two seasons and is expected to work as head coach of the Italian Serie B club Avigliana in 2011. He already had plenty of experience in Swiss Baseball, coaching and playing for the Zurich Challengers as well as being an assistant coach for the national team in the past.
