The KONICA MINOLTA PIONIERS have signed the outfielder/pitcher Andley Simmons for the upcoming season. This reports Rogier van Zon of Honkbalsite.com. The 25-year-old is a member of the Netherlands Antilles National Team and played in the Haarlem Baseball Week and the American World Cup Qualifier last year.
Simmons batted .356 (OBP .396/SLG .475) with 14 runs scored and 15 RBI for the ROYAL SCORPIONS in the Baseball league in Curacao last fall. He also appeared in five games as a pitcher and had an ERA of 4.09 in eleven innings. The southpaw will join the Mexican Al Morales, the Czech Jan Rehacek and the Canadian Ryan Murphy on the pitching staff in Hoofddorp.
