Amber league season 2007: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia

by Janis Ertners

The third Amber league season is over. Overall it was great Amberleague season
with plenty exciting games in Riga, Keila, Rukla and Vilnius. This year it
was the only tournament that brought together clubs from the Baltics.
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania had each two teams represented.

The winners, Vilniaus Kranai from Lithuania, took the lead at the season
start and finished in first place with a perfect record. This team had a
brilliant season. They also won a European regional tournament and went to a
Big league finals in Pennsylvania, USA. Amberleague runner up was Keila
Pitbulls
from Estonia with a solid perfomance all over the season They lost two
to the champions and one to the Diamonds in a slugfest in Riga. Third
place went to Rukla Vilkas
with a poor season ending. Four wins at the
beginning was enough to defend the place on the podium. Keila Sox did all their best and three one-run victories over their closest opponents from Riga, was all they needed to finish in fourth place. Riga Lions shared wins with Vilkas, Sox
and Diamonds to stay in fifth. Riga Diamonds were close to take even third
but two walk-off loses in the two last matches in Estonia left them in last
position.

Final standings:

  1. BK Vilnius Vilniaus Kranai 10-0
  2. Keila Pitbulls 7-3
  3. Rukla Vilkas 4-6
  4. Keila Sox 3-7

2007 - BK Vilnius-Vilniaus Kranai (Lithuania)
2006 - BK Riga (Latvia)
