Alex Liddi starts for California League All Stars

Big honor for third baseman Alex Liddi of the High Desert Mavericks (Seattle Mariners High-A affiliate), as he was named to the California League all-star team, which will play the Carolina League all-star team on Tuesday evening. Liddi, who is batting .341 (OBP .390/SLG .619) with 16 homeruns, 54 runs scored and 60 RBI in 67 games this year, will also take part in the homerun derby a hour before the start of the all-star game. The 20-year-old is tied for the RBI lead in the California League. He is also among the leaders in the other offensive categories during his first year in High-A.
