Alex Liddi debuts for Seattle Mariners in MLB

After being called up by the Seattle Mariners a couple of days ago, Italian third baseman Alex Liddi finally made his debut in the Major Leagues on Wednesday. He started at the hot corner in a game against the Los Angeles Angels and batted ninth. He went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in his two at-bats, being lifted for a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth.

Liddi grounded out to second base in his first big league plate appearance in the third inning. Three innings later he went down swinging following a leadoff homerun by Trayvon Robinson. On defense he was at the center of the attention in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Howie Kendrick and Torii Hunter hit into consecutive groundouts to third.

In the end the Los Angeles Angels beat the Seattle Mariners 3-1 thanks to a three-run rally in the bottom of the eighth.
